6th Annual Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals on SPEED Saturday, October 16th


KNOXVILLE, IA (October 16, 2009) - The 6th Annual Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals will air on Speed Saturday, October 17th at 9:00 PM Eastern. The two hour show is being produced by Knoxville Raceway and Lucas Oil Studios.

The event, which ran October 1 through the 4th struggled with rain and cold temperatures for the first three nights, forcing the event to be run on Sunday, October 4th. The three day event was compressed into one.

The event action was nothing short of spectacular for the A Feature with eventual 2 time winner Scott Bloomquist holding off all challengers for the checkered flag.

Lap 35 Shannon Babb was out front. It was a battle for 19th with tony Stewart against Darren miller (Thriller) took the high side to pass tony in turns 1 and 2. Darren miller used the high side to get around the cars in the 16, 17, and 18th positions. Shannon Babb two time summer nationals champion passing lap traffic. Brian Birkhofer (Birky) passing Billy Meyer on the bottom of the track. Caution came out on lap 40 due to Jeremiah Hurst stopping in turns 1 and 2 but Hurst was able to pull away. Double fill restart, Billy Meyer battling for the lad with Shannon Babb and Scott Bloomquist. Scott Bloomquist picked away from Shannon Babb. Lap 67 Scoot Bloomquist took the lead.On lap 59 Shannon Babb putt the 55 late model a lap down. On lap 67 Ryan Newman pulled of the track. He told the reporters that the car was just not running the way he wanted it to.

Lap 70 - Jimmy Marr trying to take the lead from Scott Bloomquist but was not successful. Marr jumps the cushion On Scott Bloomquist.

Lap 83- Jimmy Marr Stopped in the backstretch and that would end his night.

lap 87- Battle for third Brady smith and Billy Meyer and Brady smith will take that position from Billy Meyer. Smith trying to use the same grove has Scott Bloomquist and trying to catch him but was not successful.
